The Primary Yield Tomato
Project (Tomato Project) will grow Truss tomatoes in one of Australia's
largest and most advanced glasshouses. Tomatoes are a part of
Australia's $6 billion horticultural industry comprising fruit,
vegetables, nuts, cut flowers and turf. Tomatoes are second only to
potatoes in both Australian farm value and vegetable consumption.
The
Project
The initial cost
to invest in the Project is the Lot fee of $62 (GST), with a minimum of
120 Lots per investor. For
example the Initial Fee for 120 Lots is $7,440 (inc GST). The project
will run for 7 years with income generated every year.
- Investors in the Tomato Project will become Growers, and enter
into a Management Agreement to engage Primary Yield to establish,
plant, maintain, harvest and sell their tomatoes over the term
of the Project.
- Tomatoes are grown in one of Australia's largest glasshouses and
packed on site ready for sale.
- Conditions in the glasshouse are carefully monitored where the
light, temperature, water and nutrient requirements of the tomatoes
are highly regulated to produce optimum growing conditions.
- Tomato plants are pollinated and pruned by hand to promote higher
yields.
- When selling their tomatoes, Growers will pool their produce with
other investors in the Project in order to spread risk and maximise
returns.
- Tomatoes will be grown, picked and sold for nine months of the
year (from August to April) with tomato sales expected to generate
proceeds to Growers each year.
- At the end of the growing season the glasshouse is cleared of
plants and it is re-stocked with new plants for the following year's
production.
